Another Hoffman Challenge- Sarah and Getty - 2016
My thinking vs. my accidental success in designing this winning Hoffman challenge: (The challenge fabric is photographed on the left.)
Challenge rules are that the entire quilt must be no larger than one meter square- The finished quilt must not be a square or rectangle, and must use a recognizable amount of the challenge fabric. When purchasing this fabric, the Eiffel tower reminded me of a giraffe, so I decided to use the buildings to make two giraffes- originally intending to use the flowers as the giraffe 'spots'. Ironically. when I had cobbled together the buildings into giraffe bodies, the windows look like spots, without having to use the flowers. In fact the happy accident of the windows as spots was a much better idea. My darling husband suggested the clever name -so some aspects of this design were non-deliberate! |
