GRACE AND MICHAEL'S WEDDING QUILT
My oldest daughter was given the choice of any quilt she would like - and the choice of colors...Confession: Neither of these thrilled her mother, and a battle (within mom only, not toward the darling bride-to-be) ensued.
The pattern Grace chose from searching the internet was BALI WEDDING STAR - a Judy Niemeyer pattern. Admittedly it is a gorgeous pattern. Foundation paper piecing is not my favorite, and frankly I found the instructions perplexing. To be fair it is a reasonably complicated pattern, and I'm sure VERY complicated to draft instructions for such a beast...but even with so many years of complicated quilting behind me, I struggled. That being said -now that I understand the pattern, I might make another one day. LOL How's THAT for fickled? My daughter absolutely loves her quilt so that is truly all that matters. Because my husband and I were traveling a great deal leading up to the wedding, this was commercially quilted. I was fortunate enough to have it finished by the woman who taught me to use a long-arm machine - Evie of Quilt Crossing in Boise Idaho. If ever in Boise this is an amazing shop with everything from machines, fabrics, patterns, notions and more.
