NATIVE NINE PATCH
This was the first raw edge appliqué quilt that I ever attempted. The squares represent these plants and animals, (from left to right)
top row: Native Wood Pigeon/Kaka Beak, Pukeko
middle row: Kowhai, Kiwi, Manuka
bottom row: Fan Tail, Rata, Tui
The fabrics were from my first batch of hand-dyes and the quilt was hand quilted.
It was made for a Marlborough Quilt Club challenge, but was easily trounced by Kath Maher's spectacular Paua quilt. (will try to get a photo of her entry, it was beautifully made)
