Welcome to QuiltFever with:
DEBBY WILLIAMS - Fibre Artist/teacher
Hello and welcome to my site!
In these pages you will find out what classes are currently available,
a gallery of some of my work along with some blogs and links to
inspiring sites. Come explore with me!
Texas born, I've lived in New Zealand for over thirty years, having
learned my craft by the side of some of New Zealand's most amazing
quilters.
These quilters have taught me to trust my colour instincts, try new things and most of all - that quilters are truly some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
With thirty years working with quilts, my love of design and creation just grows! It is a pleasure to be able to share here some tips and ideas, and would love to hear from you on your quilting journey!

RECENT HAPPENINGS:

During our 2020 lockdown the Aotearoa Quilt officiado Charolette Scott suggested a 100 day challenge. The rules were sparse. Just create something every day for 100 days. Post photos when you like.
It was lovely and stress relieving to have this group of quilters to participate and share experiences with, so thank you to our fearless leader!
My project was to create a whimsical bird each day and eventually the quilt REAL TWEETS was the result. Fifty pairs of birds (can you find all the matches?) five caterpillars and ten ladybirds make this a wee search and find quilt.
REAL TWEETS was displayed in the recent Great New Zealand Quilt Show in Rotarua. A pattern has been created, will show up soon in my shop.

ANOTHER GREAT SHOW IS ON ITS WAY!!
New Zealand will again be hosting an amazing Quilt Symposium-
Carousel of Quilts
The 2024 Waikato Quilt Symposium is a multi-cultural, multi-coloured quilt fest with a carnival twist.
Held at Cambridge High School from Wednesday 2nd to Sunday 6th October, this jam-packed event is one you don’t want to miss!
New Zealand as well as international tutors will offer a great range of classes, there will be a merchant mall, exhibitions and just an all round good time with fellow quilters. Hope to see you there!!!

SO what's been happening lately?
Been having a lot of fun playing with birds. Some found their way onto canvasses- which turned out to be just the ticket for a new class.

GOING PLACESI'm experimenting a lot with leather for quilts. This quilt is mounted on a canvas as I'm kinda 'into' that right now. Mounting quilts takes a bit of for-planning but is very doable. Planning on making a class including this nugget of knowledge.
'Going Places' was naively pieced from up-cycled leather, and heavily quilted to look like tyre tracks across gravel. There is no deeper meaning or real purpose for this, although I personally think it would look great in a man-cave. My man is temporarily cave-less. |
